“Five Huts that provide you the experience of natural aesthetics.”

“THE TOKYO TOILET” project series are natural, safe, sustainable and carefully thought-out in every detail. Renowned architect Kengo Kuma designed the "Five Huts" toilet in Nabeshima Shoto Park.

Built in the middle of a former tea plantation turned lush green park, the toilet is divided up into a few small buildings. The builders used surplus wood and thinning timber effectively to construct all the toilets.

Inspired by the lush greenery of Nabeshima Shoto Park, the ceilings of the toilets are in different shades of green. Like a front door, each door has a peephole for security – and there is also a lighted window to indicate when it is available at night.

The "toilets for all" are also designed to meet the needs of a variety of users. They include highchairs and chairs for children, as well as signs giving priority to the elderly and expectant mothers. Once again, TOTO is involved in this project – for even more cleanliness and comfort!
